The latest addition to the JatrophaTech nurseries being constructed on behalf of Trees4Good was opened this month in Sabah, Borneo. This nursery is partly sponsored by onlineFX , leading suppliers of currency throughout the UK.
These nurseries are designed with the aim of producing up to 20,000 Jatropha saplings per nursery per month. Using advanced technology to create ultra healthy plants, these saplings are typically ready to be transplanted to the ground after only 4 weeks in the nursery. With survival rates of over 99% when transplanted, the nurseries are now proving their worth in several countries. A unique modular design means that Jatrophatech is able to construct facilities that can cope with just about any size of planting requirement.
One of the major benefits of the JatrophaTech nursery design is that the technology employed allows us to use only 20% of the water that is traditionally used to create Jatropha saplings. This, when combines with out minimum soil requirement means that many of the logistics issues associated with large scale propagation of Jatropha have been eliminated.
